villagers are really good regardless so i agree it’s the best way for xp (without mob farm) Tbh, a grinder from a dungeon spawner isn’t very costly and takes less than 20 minutes to make if you know exactly what to do. But if you want to avoid mob farms overall, follow what the other commenters are saying and trade with villagers. Iguana Tweaks Reborn, which increases the amount of XP received per ore mined, but makes the game grindier in other ways (blocks take 3x longer to break, animals can only breed every 20 minutes, it takes 20 minutes or so for crops to grow and they basically need sunlight otherwise they grow even more slowly, etc).
